Life Story
Pamela Jean (Bragger) Schlaepfer of Palm Desert, CA passed on at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ. Her big heart in a petite body succumbed to heart failure on Thursday, June 14. She was 83.
Pam was born in Cardiff, Wales to John Emile Bragger and Bertha Baumann Bragger. She had one sister, Phyllis, who was two years older.
She graduated from the University of Edinburgh and married a young doctor she met in college, Joseph Taylor, with whom she bore two children, John (1951) and Carol (1956).
Pam was a force to be reckoned with. As a woman working in a man's world, she was the only female sound technician working for the BBC in Edinburgh, Scotland until she divorced and immigrated to Sunnyvale, CA in 1957.
She was the Chief Sound Engineer for Ampex Corporation in Redwood City, where she met second husband, Fred Schlaepfer, to whom she was married for over 20 years.
