Audrey Brown passed away peacefully with her daughter Alison and granddaughters at her side, on June 4, 2012 at 7:57 a.m. at New Mercy Hospital in Merced, CA. She is survived by her two daughters, Jill Cowan and Alison Devine, and her three granddaughters, Bethany, Donna, and Jessica Cowan.
Audrey was born Audrey Capstack April 3, 1932 in Barrow-in-Furness, England. Audrey was married to Derrick Charles Brown for 54 years and had two daughters, Jill and Alison. Derrick and Audrey met in a French conversation class in London. They married August 3, 1957 in England. Derrick's job required them to move from England to California in 1962. They moved back to England in 1967, and permantely moved back to California in 1976. Audrey was the last to move back, arriving in July that year.
Both Audrey and Derrick loved to travel. They traveled the world their whole lives, but did a majority of traveling after his retirement from telecommunications in 1993. They moved from San Jose, CA to Maui, Hawaii and lived there for five years. They then moved to Florida to be closer to cruise ship ports and lived in many southern cities in Florida, including where they bought their home in Cape Coral. In that time, they took at least 75 cruises! They also had a love for teddy bears and had hundreds of them. Each taking turns traveling with them.
Audrey and Derrick were inseperable and a true love story. She was widowed six months ago and deeply suffered from a broken heart. Today she was reunited with him as he sailed in with their final cruise ship.
