A Mother Leaves a Condolence Poem for Her Loved Ones

This condolence poem was written by a loving mother to those she would leave behind when she passed. The simple comfort it gives reminds us that those we have lost would not want us to live our remaining lives lost as well. We must ever remember them while we carry out full and happy lives.

When I Must Leave You For a Little While

When i must leave you for a little while,
please do not grieve and shed wild tears and hug your sorrow to you through the years,
but start out bravely with a gallant smile.
And for my sake and in my name,
live on and do all the things the same.
Feed not on your loneliness and empty days,
but fill each working hour in useful ways.
Reach out your hand in comfort and cheer and in turn I will comfort you and hold you near.
And never, never be afraid to die for I am waiting for you in the sky!

This was a poem my mother had written probably in the late 1990’s - I would like to dedicate it to her memory.
