American Novelist and Playwright Ira Levin Passes On


American novelist and playwright Ira Levin passed away in Manhattan on Monday, November 12, 2007 from a heart attack. His writing has been described as “smart, updated versions of the kind of folksy legends that cultures have always used.” He provided several generations with classic novels, plays and ultimately movies with his witty writing.

Some of his best known works include novels A Kiss Before Dying, Rosemary’s Baby, This Perfect Day, and The Stepford Wives. His plays included No Time for Sergeants (which launched Andy Griffiths career), and Deathtrap which was nominated for a Tony Award in 1978.
