Anita Page, Silent Movie Actress


Veteran actress and silent movie icon Anita Page passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the age of 98 at her home in Los Angeles.

Page started out in Hollywood at 18 with a role in Our Dancing Daughters alongside Joan Crawford. Her popularity grew after appearing in the 1929 movie, The Broadway Melody, the first spoken word movie to win an Academy Award for Best Picture. She also starred alongside Buster Keaton in Free and Easy and Sidewalks of New York.

Page took a break from acting in 1936 after marrying her second husband Hershel House, but returned in 1994 with a role in Sunset After Dark.
