Brenden Foster, Inspiration
11-year old Brenden Foster inspired his mother and grandmother during his short life. He inspired millions more in just the last few weeks. Brenden had leukemia. But his last wish wasn’t to go see a basketball game or to get a visit from a favorite Hollywood star. His last wish was to feed the homeless. With that small wish, he empowered so many to reach out in their own communities and feed the homeless where they lived. Young Brenden died from leukemia on Friday, November 21, 2008 in the arms of his mother.
People all over the world – South Caroline, Ohio, Saudi Arabia, California, Washington, Oregon – all put together food drives and donation centers on Brenden’s behalf to help feed the homeless.
Brenden had only one question for God through all of this. “Why at so young an age? I could have done more. But if it has to be now, it has to be now,” he said.
Donations to help the family with medical costs can be made at any Washington Mutual Bank Branch. I have no doubt that a fund or donation service will be set-up to continue to honor Brenden’s last wish. When I find it, I will be sure to post it here for readers.

The Dream Within
Written in memory of
Brenden Stephen Foster
It is not our years but it is our dreams
That gives to others, lends help, and feeds
Because it is not our age, but the youth inside
That makes the change and turns the tide
For no one knows how much time they have
But to those who give with loving hands
Leave deeds that reach beyond their lives
You see,
It’s not one’s age, but the dream inside
And Brenden,
At times your dreams you cannot fulfill
But the love you gave will inspires others will
For your dream may be just a seed
Yet from your hope, others will fulfill the need
For it’s the dreams we have and the deeds we do
That flowers the humanity between me and you
You said: “follow your dreams” beyond your years
Yes,
That’s how the spirit goes on beyond life’s tears
So it is not our time but the love we gave
That is how our world is saved
For you leave a legacy behind
That says:
It’s not the years but our hope inside
Hand by hand and side by side
It’s not the years we’re given, but the dream inside
In Lasting Memory,
Eric S. Kingston & Family

Brenden is one of those people that comes in and out of your life briefly but will be with you forever.

Brenden,
He had what we all should have, the heart of Jesus Christ. Such a selfless little boy, he has impacted my life. I only hope and pray that I can get to that point of selflessness in my own life. I know he his in Heaven with God and being rewarded greatly. May God bless and grant Brenden’s family and friends comfort in this time of a great loss.

My eyes are filled with tears, my heart simply breaking, for the loss Brenden’s family is experiencing now. Especially for that last moment with his mother. What a brave and wonderful boy he was…God is holding him now, I am sure.
If only everyone could have the heart for others at such a time as he did. He is an inspiration of faith and love!

BRENDEN FOSTER
Eleven years old and from Seattle,
with two weeks to live he forgets about his battle.
Tells his mom before I die,
I’d like to feed the hungry that are living outside.
Dying of Leukemia this brave little boy,
never ask for a vacation or even a toy.
I’d like to help others before I die,
never a thought of sadness or even his own cry.
His wish touched thousands across the land,
from Seattle to Florida,
everyone was giving a helping hand.
His name is Brenden Foster,
he’s a hero in my book,
His heart touched so many,
no one gave it a second look.
Eleven years old and barely alive,
he saw his dream come true just before he died.
Making others life better,
was his final dream,
as he died in his mothers arms,
on Friday morning.
He walked into Heaven with a smile on his face,
as Angels applauded his work of grace.
And when he met Jesus I’m sure he heard,
Your legacy will forever bless,
those on earth.
So come now my child and walk with me,
for you are now sickness free.
So thank you Brenden for all that you did,
you touched so many lives,
and you were just a kid.
