Brittany MurphyA private funeral was held for actress Brittany Murphy this Thursday on Christmas Eve, December 24. The service took place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles.

Murphy, who died last Sunday, was publicly honored and remembered by family when they released the following statement: “A bright light that lit the world is forever dimmed, but will live on in the hearts of those that Brittany touched. Brittany was an incredibly loving and passionate person and an artist to her core.”

Murphy moved with her mother to the Los Angeles area when she was just a teenager to pursue a career in acting. After starring in a number of sitcoms and commercials in the early 1990s, Murphy caught her first big break with a role in the 1995 film “Clueless” with Alicia Silverstone. From there, Murphy went on to star in a number of films including “Girl, Interrupted,” “8 mile,” and “Just Married.”

While Murphy ultimately died of cardiac arrest, investigators are still determining what initially caused her heart failure. She was 32.
