Grief Still Real After 9/11

Today is the anniversary of one of the singularly greatest tragedies of our generation.  The attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon six years ago created widows, widowers, and orphans in an instant. It also created a sort of grief culture made up of Americans who face the pain, bereavement and slow healing process every single day and who have yet to feel a sense of closer and acceptance.

Oregon: Washington County Hospice Volunteers

Volunteers are needd to care for and support patients and their families during the final stages of a life-limiting illness. Volunteers can help with direct care of patients, bereavement work with families, clerical work, public relations and provide directions as a board member.

Oregon: Bereavement Forum

For those that may have lost a loved one within the last two to 10 weeks, Legacy Meridian Park Hospital in Tualatin, a suburb of Portland, is offering an open forum to discuss the stages of bereavement, what to expect during the grieving period and how to cope with the loss. The Forum will be held on Monday, August 18, 2008 from 5:00pm - 6:00pm.  The seminar is free.
