Loving mom and wife, Joyce Brawls lived a life full of love. When a terrible illness threatened to take away her quality of life, Joyce decided to end her treatment and spend her last remaining months in the presence of her family at home.  This, her family says, was her greatest gift to them and the best decision for Joyce.  They got to share Christmas, they got to remember each other without the buzz and hum of a hospital.  They got to say goodbye in their own way.

Samuel Jackson Bell was a postman who loved the outdoors. His daughter tells of how a difficult illness took away from those things and from her.  But what is clear that the love he showed her was real.  Losing a father is heartbreaking, especially when an illness takes away the strenght and stalwardness of a once capable man.  But we never forget their lives and how they were when they were truly happy and with us.

Will passed away a year ago today and although it was hard, his mother began to honor his life with a memorial to her beautiful son.  He was only a young man when he passed away with a life before him. But what life he lead filled those of the people he loved and for that, I know, they are thankful.

On this Valentine’s day, remember those that loved Joyce May Fredrick Grear.  Joyce was a wonderful mother to four children who loved her dearly. Joyce was beautiful and caring – a woman you would have wanted to know.
