Cigarette Winston Spokesman Dies of Larynx Cancer


winstonman-landersUnfortunately, Alan Landers was too late to avoid the health risks of smoking.  Alan Landers, the “Winston Man” died on Friday, February 27, 2009 at his home in Florida after suffering from larynx cancer. Landers became an advocate for smoking education after he found out he had lung cancer caused by the habit. He was in the process of suing R.J. Reynolds Tobacco, the makers of Winston cigarettes for knowingly exposing him to the risks of smoking.  Landers began smoking when he was 9 years old.

Landers became an icon for smoking and the Winston cigarette brand after appearing in countless magazine and other print ads during his time as spokesman.
