Don LaFontaine, Voice Over Celebrity
The Hollywood fixture, Don LaFontaine, who popularized the movie trailer voice-over catch phrase “In a world where…” has died. LaFontaine passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008 at the age of 68 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles due to complications from an ongoing but recent illness.
LaFontaine lent his voice to over 5,000 movie trailers during his 33 years in Hollywood. He was said to have never cared that no one new his face or even his name, just his incredible voice. He worked tirelessly, doing 7-10 voice over sessions a day up until very recently.
The funeral plans are still pending.
