Dramatics Singer, Ron Banks, Dies


Ron BanksRon Banks, singer for and founder member of the Dramatics, an R&B vocal group, died of a heart attack Thursday in his Detroit home. He was 58.

Born in May of 1951, Banks was a Detroit native. It is said that his “sweet falsetto” helped create his vocal group’s distinct sound.

Originally known as the Dynamics during the early 1960s, the group eventually changed its name to the Dramatics as well as underwent a number of personnel changes. Regardless, the band grew in popularity during the following years, notching a number of top ten singles on various pop and R&B lists.

Some of their hits include: “In the Rain,” “Whacha See is Whacha Get,” “All Because of You,” “Me and Mrs. Jones,” You’re Fooling You,” “Be My Girl,” and “Welcome Back Home.”

He is survived by his wife and six children.

Banks is the fourth Dramatics member to pass away.
