Edie Adams, Actress/Singer
Actress best-known as the face of Muriel Cigars, Edie Adams, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at the age of 81 due to pneumonia and cancer. Muriel’s face graced the small screen for over 19 years as the face of the cigar brand though her talents went far beyond her best known work. She appeared on shows with Milton Berle, Sammy Davis Jr., and Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez during the 1960s. During that same time she also appearred in such popular films as It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, The Apartment, and Under the Yum Yum Tree.
Adams starred on Broadway early in her career in the musical Wonderful Town and Lil’ Abner. Her comedy and singing made her a star and a friend among some of the greatest entertainers of her time.
She is survived by her son Josh Mills.
