Green Burial Requirements
For those of you wondering exactly what constitutes a green burial, below are the basic elements required for a burial to be considered eco-friendly or “green.”
- No embalming chemicals are used
- The body is placed in a biodegradable casket or unfinished wood casket. A shroud only can also be used
- Burial takes place in a cemetery designated as a green burial location where the grounds do not use pesticide
