Ledger got his big movie start in the movie “10 things I hate about you,” a modern-day remake of the Shakespearean play, “Taming of the Shrew.” He won critical acclaim in “The Patriot” and “Monster’s Ball” ultimately culminating in an Academy Award nomination for his performance in “Brokeback Mountain.”

Ledger left behind a 2-year old daughter, Matilda, who he had with ex-fiance Michelle Williams.
