Martial Arts Fighter Sam Vasquez Dies Due to Blood-Clot Related Complications
American Martial Arts Fighter Sam Vasquez met an early death earlier this month. He was only 35 years old. Vasquez was taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center’s Critical Care Unit after a Renegades Extreme Fighting match with Vince Libardi on October 20th. Sammy suffered from a blood clot that was then removed. But he suffered another blood clot several weeks later which caused fluid to enter his brain, resulting in a stroke and ultimately his death. This is unfortunately the second fighter who has died from complications due to blood clots. One can only speculate as to whether the fighting was to blame for these clots. Sammy is survived by his wife Sandra and 7-year-old son.
