Michael Jackson is gone
Michael Jackson has died. Shortly after receiving a 9-1-1 call, paramedics found Jackson in cardiac arrest, his personal physician already performing CPR. It was just after noon on Thursday, June 25, in his Los Angeles mansion. He was 50.
News of the mega-celebrity’s death spread quickly, some even claiming it nearly broke the Internet. Even days later, Jackson’s name is still a dominant force in the news and social media outlets like Twitter and YouTube. So far, a local St. Louis news station has encapsulated the tragedy best: “He spent much of his life as one of the most famous people on the planet, and to many, his untimely death felt both unthinkable and, oddly, inevitable.”
The King of Pop was scheduled to begin his epic comeback tour in the coming weeks, beginning with 50 concerts in London.
The talent and controversy surrounding the music icon’s life is remarkable. First known, of course, for his leading role in Motown’s Jackson 5, Michael continued soaring to greater fame and fortune in his solo career with hits like “Thriller” and “Billie Jean.” Jackson’s life was filled with memorable moments — the moonwalk, his single white glove, an ever-changing face, Neverland Ranch, accusations of child molestation — and, likely, he’ll be remembered for them all.
