Northern Exposure Actor Moultrie Patten Passes On
The actor who played Walt the trapper on the 1990s TV series Northern Exposure, Moultrie Patten, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at his home in Beaverton. He was 89 years old. Patten was not only an actor but a jazz musician who sang and played piano in jazz clubs. He recorded a CD of his favorites in 1997.
Patten was raised in Detroit and studied piano and theater at Brown University. He was drafted into WWII and was given the Silver Star for heroism as a tank commander. Upon returning to the states he began a career in vaudeville and Broadway. He moved to Portland, OR in 1990 where his daughter currently resides.
Moultrie Patten’s memorial service will be held this Friday, March 27 at the Ross Hollywood Chapel. He will be receiving full military honors and interment at Arlington National Cemetery.

This is my uncle who was somewhat a peripheral figure as I did not see him after he went to Oregon, he did play an important part in my life. He was a character, so loved by my mother his sister. As a child he visted us quite regularly. I saw “Noises Off” AND ENJOYED all of his work and do have his cd in my car. Love you unkky sue
