Mother’s Grief Motivates Fight against Drunk Driving

On a 1984 Easter Sunday, a drunk driver killed Arlene Victor’s son and daughter-in-law. The only survivor of the collision was Victor’s granddaughter, who went to live with Victor, her husband and their 9-year-old son on their Iowa farm.

Parents Give Books in Daughter’s Memory

The H1N1 virus hit close to home for the Gibson family, whose daughter died on October 2009 because of complications from the virus. The parents of little girl created The Catherine Elizabeth Gibson Endowment for Children’s Books in their child’s memory.

Memorials Honor Victims of Hurricane Katrina

Five years ago, Hurricane Katrina, one of the costliest and deadliest hurricanes in U.S. history, devastated the lives of thousands of people on the Gulf Coast. Families gathered on Sunday, August 29, 2010 to remember loved ones lost and put the past behind them, as abandoned homes in their neighborhoods still bear the spray-painted symbols that indicate the number dead rescuers found within them.
