We have honored many amazing individuals this year at Valley of Life. So many incredible people in 2008 - scientists, artists, comedians, actors, and humanitarians - lost their lives due to illness, tragedy and old-age. As we look ahead to the coming year, let us remember again those that we said goodbye to in 2008 and their incredible contributions during their life.

1940s and 50s jazz pianist and singer Page Cavanaugh passed away on Friday, December 26, 2008 at the age of 86. Cavanaugh was part of the popular Page Cavanaugh Trio which played in nightclubs throughout southern California and later appeared in movies and on the Frank Sinatra radio show.

Monument creator and legendary sculptor Robert Graham passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Santa Monica UCLA Medical Centre and Orthopaedic Hospital. He was 70 years old. Graham was the creator of some of the most widely recognized sculptures around the U.S. including the bronze work at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial in Washington D.C., the Joe Louis Memorial in Detroit, the jazz musician Charlie Parker monument in Kansas City, and the Duke Ellington Memorial in NYC Central Park. His art can be seen all-over the United States, testaments to the great leaders and inspirations of the modern United States.
