Purchasing the appropriate flowers for a funeral service

Many times people will send flowers and a thoughtful condolence letter as a way to extend love and support to a family or friend who has lost someone they love. Flowers are a wonderful way to provide a visual sense of beauty and joy in the world at a time when life seems very dark. Every faith and culture has different traditions about how to send flowers and where. For some sending flowers to the church or funeral home is appropriate while others it is not. Some cultures also have a time frame in which sending flowers is appropriate. For instance, in the Hindu tradition, flowers can be sent to the funeral home for the service but they are not necessarily part of the Hindu burial traditions in general. Hindus typically have floral garlands at funerals.
