Ron Silver Passes On
Actor and political activist Ron Silver died yesterday after battling esophageal cancer for the last two years. Silver was best known for his on-going appearances on the popular television drama, The West Wing. I personally remember Silver for his reoccurring role in the 1990’s drama Chicago Hope, He was also a very vocal republican party activist after the events of September 11, 2001. Silver was 62 years old.
Ron Silver was born in New York City and got his degree in Spanish and Chinese at SUNY Buffalo and a Masters in Chinese History at St. John’s University in Queens.
Though strongly tied to the republican party the last few years, Silver described himself as a “little bit to the right of the left of center.” A proper description I think from an active man who cared about his country. He will be missed.
