Skip Caray, Sports Announcer
The voice of the Atlanta Braves for 33 years, Skip Caray, passed away in his home on Sunday, August 3 at the age of 68. Caray has had various health problems over the last few years, including diabetes, irregular heartbeat and kidney and liver problems, though the cause of death was not immediately disclosed.
Caray followed his family’s tradition in broadcasting after his father, Harry Caray, the voice of the Chicago Cubs.
Our baseball community has lost a legend today,” Braves president John Schuerholz said. “The Braves family and Braves fans everywhere will sadly miss him. Our thoughts are with his wife Paula and his children.”
There is a great tribute to Skip Caray written by Todd Leopold, CNN’s Entertainment Producer on his blog. Skip Caray fans will enjoy his take on this legend of baseball.

I cried this morning. I’m 60 years old and feel like I lost a close friend. It’s like having to say goodbye when you don’t want to. Skip was a unique personality and cared enough to say what he felt like needed to be said. He will be missed.
