Sources are now saying that Crematoriums may be responsible for roughly 9% of airborne mercury emissions in the world. These emissions stem from the combustion of dental amalgam. Atmospheric dioxins known to cause cancer and other illnesses are also emitted through the cremation process - about 12% in the world is attributed to it. Chloride and formaldehyde is also released into the environment during the embalming process.
