Emily Dickinson | After Great Pain, A Formal Feeling Comes

Emily Dickinson remains one of the chief poets on the difficult subject of death. On one hand, her pieces can be dark or dismal; on the other, she can also speak hope and light into a verse. In addition to these, her works can enlighten the reader to experiences surrounding death or pain, as is the case of the poem I’d like to share with you today. It’s known as “After a Great Pain, A Formal Feeling Comes”, and speaks to the stages and processes of grieving a loved one’s death. (more…)

In Memory of Emily Louise Heulitt

My prayers for comfort go out to the parents of Emily Louise Heulitt today. Baby Emily passed away peacefully just one year ago.  Her parents missed getting to do many things with her, yet it is clear from the life story they have created that little Emily changed them forever.  If you too have lost a child too soon, I encourage you to leave a word of encouragement in Emily’s Guest Book or visit our Grief Support Forum to talk to others who have had the same experience.

In Memory of Jeffrey Glen Norris

Our prayers and thoughts of comfort are with the children of Jeffrey Glen Norris today. Two years ago, they lost their father to throat and brain cancer.  Their grief has been deep and it is our hope that they get the support of friends and family as they honor their father today and for years to come.
