Mother’s Grief Motivates Fight against Drunk Driving

On a 1984 Easter Sunday, a drunk driver killed Arlene Victor’s son and daughter-in-law. The only survivor of the collision was Victor’s granddaughter, who went to live with Victor, her husband and their 9-year-old son on their Iowa farm.

Memorials Honor Victims of Hurricane Katrina

Five years ago, Hurricane Katrina, one of the costliest and deadliest hurricanes in U.S. history, devastated the lives of thousands of people on the Gulf Coast. Families gathered on Sunday, August 29, 2010 to remember loved ones lost and put the past behind them, as abandoned homes in their neighborhoods still bear the spray-painted symbols that indicate the number dead rescuers found within them.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Washed to Honor Fallen Fathers

In honor of Father’s Day, the Sons and Daughters in Touch washed the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. to honor fallen fathers who fought in the Vietnam War and to commemorate the support group’s 20th anniversary. According to CNN, about one-third (20,000) of military personnel who served in Vietnam were killed or declared MIA (missing in action).

Drunk Driver Uses His Story to Memorialize His Victim

At the age of 19, Danny McCoy never thought he would be responsible for the death of a high school senior girl he hardly knew, Alex Everhart. McCoy, a Marine at the time, made the decision to drink, drive and allow a passenger in his vehicle while he was under the influence of alcohol. The night ended tragicallyafter McCoy passed out at the wheel of his car and hit a pole. Alex sustained fatal injuries.
