America’s Oldest Woman Dies at 114

Mary Josephine RayMary Josephine Ray died Sunday in New Hampshire as the oldest woman living in the United States and the second oldest in the world. She is the oldest person ever recorded to live in New Hampshire. The Maplewood County Nursing Home in Westmoreland reported that she died peacefully in her sleep. Yesterday, she was 114 years, 294 days old.

Old American FlagOlivia “Pat” Thomas, the oldest person born in the United States, died this week at the age of 114. Thomas died Monday at the St. Francis Home of Williamsville, which is near Buffalo, New York.

World’s oldest person, Gertrude Baines, dies

BainesLast week, on the morning of September 11, the oldest person in the world, Gertrude Baines, died at the age of 115 years, 158 days. Baines died peacefully in her sleep at a local hospital, where she had been residing since the age of 107. Many may remember her face from from Election Day in 2008 when news agencies captured her casting a vote for Barack Obama.
