Emily Dickinson | Because I Could Not Stop for Death
Friday, May 29th, 2009I came across this poem of Emily Dickinson’s today and thought it a brilliant observation concerning the untimeliness of death. Her opening line begins an insightful commentary on how we often busy about our lives unaware that tragedy could strike at any moment. Losing a mother – what an incredible pain. So many of our Valley of Life members, young and old, have written about losing their mother. A handful of the stories touch you deeply. One of those stories is Etheleen Muller, who passed away seven years ago this week. A pregnant mother with two little boys at home, she passed away before her baby girl could come in the world. Her sons were left alone suddenly and their story of these events will touch you.
