Miep Gies, the woman who helped hide Anne Frank and her family during the Nazi regime of World War II, died Monday. She was 100.

The second youngest man to receive the medal of honor has died. Jack Lucas, a decorated marine who forged his mother’s signature when he was 14 years old so that he could join the military during World War II, died at the age of 80 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi of leukemia.
