The Stars Send Their Condolences for Natasha Richardson
Natasha Richardson was a sparkling, beautiful woman whose work on stage and screen was captivating and warm. She had a wonderful smile. Her colleagues in Hollywood and Broadway have come out to send their condolences over the last 24 hours to Liam Neeson, Natasha’s husband, and their two boys.
Alan Cumming: He co-starred with Richardson in the 1998 Broadway revival of “Cabaret” for which they both won Tony awards.
“I, like everyone, am totally devastated by the sudden death of Natasha Richardson. The term ‘life force’ seems trite but that is what she was: a woman who powered through life and fascinated everyone she encountered … The strongest memory I have is of her laughter, her unmistakeable throaty laugh. I think that’s a great way to remember someone.”
Jodie Foster: Co-star in 1994’s “Nell,” which also starred Richardson’s husband Liam Neeson:
“Natasha was brilliant, beautiful, funny, talented beyond measure, as emotionally raw as she was razor sharp. … May Liam, her beautiful boys and her loving family hold her close as they move through this tragic moment.”
Dame Judi Dench: The two actresses worked together in 1987 on a televised production of the Henrik Ibsen play “Ghosts.”
“She had an incredibly luminous quality that you seldom see, and a great sense of humour. I thought she was a really great actress and seemed to simply shine in both film and theatre. It’s always difficult if you have parents in theatre, it puts a very strange pressure on the children. It’s been so shocking, really shocking – I hope everyone leaves the family alone to pick up the pieces.”
Mia Farrow: “Natasha is irreplaceable. I cannot think of anyone kinder, more generous, thoughtful, smarter or more fun. She is the godmother of two of my children. The Neesons and Vanessa [Redgrave, Richardson's mother] have always made me feel a part of their wonderful family. My thoughts and prayers are with them.”
Blythe Danner: “I can’t talk because I started crying. I’m heart broken. She was so kind to us when Bruce [Paltrow, Danner's late husband] was ill. She’s so generous. I don’t think that I can handle it.”

My family and I are deeply saddened by her passing. We knew her only from her art, she was tremendously talented. We will miss her radiant presence. Our prayers and thoughts go out to her family. Sincerely, The Siegel Family

Humans are not built to be strong during times of grief.
Speaking from experience let someone else carry your load for a while.
Having those so needed moments of insanity, weeping and hopelessness is a necessity.
Out of our darkest moment finally comes the light.
Not today or tomorrow but down the road you get to see what’s been left behind.
Something you can never lose. Yes it can drag us to the bottom of the pit
And bring us to the top of the world
The blessing of love never dies.
When it is time let love lift you up, remembering your special one.
With a tear in your eye and smile on you lips.
Because, love my friend is the greatest treasure we humans possess.

The following words are from the book of common prayer. They gave me some hope during my greif.
For none of us has life in himself,
and none becomes his own master when he dies.
For if we have life, we are alive in the Lord,
and if we die, we die in the Lord.
So, then, whether we live or die,
we are the Lord’s possession.
