U.S. Admiral William Crowe Passes Away
Retired U.S. Admiral and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff William Crowe passed away this Thursday at the age of 82. His distinguished military and political career made him a powerful and well-respected figure in U.S. history.
Crowe studied political science at Princeton University and served in the military after school. His knowledge made him a valuable asset in negotiating an agreement with the Soviet Union to stifle accidental confrontations from turning into major military confrontations. He served as the top military commander in 1985 under President Ronald Reagan where he oversaw raids on Libya and helped manage the aftermath of the crash of an Iranian passenger plane by U.S. forces. Crowe retired from the military in 1989 but did pop up in future years to put his support toward Bill Clinton in 1992 and criticize the current decisions of President Bush and his administration.
