Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

This I first read when Princess Diana died in the UK. It is a beautiful poem, and so wonderfully comforting.

That is extremely beautiful and very close
to the poem that was read at my Grandmother's funeral.

That is a beautiful poem. If I choose to have a funeral, I might like that one read. I still don't know how I want my remains handled (other than I want to donate my organs.)

It rings very true. When someone dies, they sleep until Judgment Day comes so when they're buried deep in the soil or cremated, there's really no use to cry over them or tell them anything because they won't see it or hear it anyway.

well written piece of work. I like it when poems tend to be in the first person. It feels more real, like you can actually feel what the writer was feeling at that moment.
